No red flags
Six checks: 6 passed, 0 to look at, 0 flagged, 0 not checked. Compared with 17,467 accounts with 500k to 1M followers.
This page does not print a percent of fake followers, because the crawl does not read the follower list. How the checks work
- Passed
Engagement rate for the size
0.47%Mean rate over the last 12 posts. Beats 29% of the 17,467 accounts with 500k to 1M followers (tier p5 0.07%, median 1.03%). Followers who never like or comment pull this down.
- Passed
Comments per 100 likes
14.90Accounts with 500k to 1M followers (17,467): p10 0.43, median 1.65. Bought likes raise likes without comments, so a low ratio for the size is the tell.
- Passed
Follower jumps between crawls
+2.2%Largest rise between two of our crawls 1 to 30 days apart: 810,886 on Aug 5, 2026 to 829,115 on Aug 19, 2026 (14 days). Across 375,540 accounts with such a pair, 1.0% rose 20% or more and 2.2% rose 10% or more.
- Passed
Likes evenness
0.81Likes on the last 12 posts run from 3 to 9,340. Spread divided by the mean, against accounts with 500k to 1M followers (p1 0.29, median 0.96). Like packages land near-identical counts on every post.
- Passed
Engagement concentration
23%Share of all likes and comments in the window that the top post holds (10,751 interactions). Accounts with 500k to 1M followers: median 28%, p90 54%. One viral post skews the mean; it is not fraud on its own.
- Passed
Following to follower ratio
0.0023Follows 1,883 accounts, followed by 831,286. Higher than 78% of accounts with 500k to 1M followers (median 0.0008, p99 0.0108). Follow-for-follow growth leaves a ratio far above the size's norm.
Engagement per post, last 30 posts
Excluded: 0 pinned, 0 with hidden like counts. The newest stored post is older than 30 days and the live refresh budget for today is used up, so these numbers are from Sep 5, 2026.

What the six checks read
Every check takes one number the crawl really holds for this account and puts it next to the same number across the 431,496 public Instagram accounts with 1,000+ followers in Virev's database, split by follower size. A check fails only when the account sits in the tail of its own size tier.
- Engagement rate for the size. Likes plus comments over followers, mean of the last 12 posts, as a percentile of the tier. Bought followers never engage, so the rate falls below the size's norm. Flag below the tier p5, look below p25.
- Comments per 100 likes. Mean comments divided by mean likes. Like packages add likes and nothing else, so the ratio drops below the tier's p10.
- Follower jumps between crawls. The largest rise between two consecutive crawls 1 to 30 days apart. Across 375,540 accounts with such a pair, only 1.0% rose 20% or more, so a jump that size is a flag and 10% is worth a look.
- Likes evenness. The spread of likes across the last 12 posts, divided by the mean. Real audiences vary a lot from post to post; a like package delivers near-identical counts, which puts the account under the tier's p1. Look below p10.
- Engagement concentration. The top post's share of all likes and comments in the window. Above the tier's p90 it is marked for a look, never a flag: a viral post is real, but the mean then overstates the usual post.
- Following to follower ratio. Following divided by followers. Accounts grown by follow-for-follow sit far above their size's norm; above the tier's p99 is a flag, above p90 a look.
Thresholds, sample sizes and the full per-tier table are on the method page. How the checks work
What this checker does not do
It does not read the follower list, so it cannot say that 23% of the followers are bots. Tools that print such a number sample a few thousand followers with a model they do not show; two of them give different numbers for the same account. This page reads the account's own public numbers over time and says where they sit among accounts of the same size.
It does not read comment text either, so emoji-only or repeated comments are not counted. Open the last three posts and read the comments yourself; it takes a minute.
What to do with a red flag
- One flag is a reason to ask, not a verdict. Ask the creator for a screenshot of their follower growth and audience country from Instagram insights; a bought spike shows there as a one-day step.
- Two or more flags on the engagement side (rate, comments, evenness) together is the pattern of bought likes on a bought audience. Price the deal on the median post, not the follower count.
- A growth flag with clean engagement checks is often a feature, a press mention or a collab. Look at the date of the jump next to the posts from that week.
Questions people ask
- How can you tell if an Instagram account has fake followers?
- Compare the account with accounts of its size. Fake followers do not like or comment, so the engagement rate falls below the size's norm; bought likes leave few comments per like and near-identical like counts; bought followers arrive as a step in the follower history. This page runs those checks against 431,496 accounts and shows the numbers.
- Why is there no percent of fake followers?
- Because we do not read the follower list, and a percent without the list is a guess. Modash and Collabstr show 25.6% and 39.8% for the same account on the same day. We show each signal with its evidence instead, so you can see why.
- What is a good engagement rate for the size?
- The median is 2.99% at 1k to 10k followers and 0.73% at 1M+ in our crawl, with the full tier table in the Instagram engagement rate benchmarks article. This checker marks an account below its tier's p5 as a flag and below p25 as something to look at.
- Should I work with an influencer who has red flags?
- Ask first. Request Instagram insights screenshots (follower growth, audience country, reach on the last posts). If the numbers hold up, price the deal on the median post's reach, not the follower count. If they refuse, the flag answered the question.
- Why does it say the account is not stored?
- The checks run on Virev's own crawl of public accounts. An account the crawl has not visited has no snapshots or posts to compare. Live reads of Instagram are capped per day; inside Virev search a lookup queues a crawl of the account.
