Key findings
- Virev's October 2026 study of 611,122 Instagram creators with 1,000+ followers found that 8.6% link their own TikTok or YouTube account on their profile, 3.1% a TikTok and 6.1% a YouTube channel.
- In Virev's 2026 data, 34.0% of 221,949 YouTube creators link an Instagram or TikTok account from their channel, 31.2% Instagram and 13.3% TikTok.
- In Virev's 2026 data, 2.9% of 5.66 million TikTok creators name their Instagram or YouTube account in the bio text.
- Bigger creators link more. 7.3% of Instagram creators with 1,000 to 10,000 followers link TikTok or YouTube, against 17.2% at 100,000 to 1 million, and 65.3% of YouTube channels with 1 million+ subscribers link another app.
- For 104,120 linked Instagram and TikTok accounts with 1,000+ followers on both, the median creator has 1.11 TikTok followers for every Instagram follower.
8.6% of Instagram creators with 1,000 or more followers link their own TikTok or YouTube account on their Instagram profile. We read the profiles of 611,122 Instagram creators in a 2% sample of Virev's crawl, plus every TikTok and YouTube creator Virev crawls, and counted the links each creator wrote to their other accounts. YouTube creators link out far more often, and 34.0% of them link Instagram or TikTok.
A link is a floor. Many creators run a second account and never link it. In a hand check of 30 Instagram creators with no link, a web search found a TikTok or YouTube account for 5 of them, so about 1 in 4 Instagram creators probably have their own TikTok or YouTube account as well. That estimate comes from 30 accounts, so treat it as a range of about 15% to 40%.
When we asked an OpenAI model on October 28 what share of Instagram influencers also use TikTok, it said there is no reliable single number. The figures that come up are surveys. Kolsquare's 2025 survey of European creators found that 69% have more than 5,000 followers on two or more platforms, and CreatorIQ's 2025-26 survey found that 72% of creators use Instagram and 65% use TikTok, without the overlap. This page counts the overlap from the accounts themselves, by platform and size, and the CSV is at the end.

Journalists may quote these numbers with a link. Instagram covers 611,122 public creator accounts with 1,000+ followers in a 2% page sample of Virev's crawl. TikTok covers all 5,656,803 creators with 1,000+ followers and YouTube all 221,949 channels with 1,000+ subscribers that Virev crawls. Every creator posted between July 30 and October 27, 2026. A creator counts as linked when their own profile links or names their account on the other platform. Instagram creators link YouTube about twice as often as TikTok. The share rises with size, from 7.3% of creators with 1,000 to 10,000 followers to 17.2% at 100,000 to 1 million. Few link both, 0.57% of all creators.
Another 2.9% of Instagram creators mention YouTube without naming a channel, most often with a link to one video, which does not show whose channel it is. We do not count those, or the 0.5% who name TikTok in the bio with no handle we could match.

2.6% of TikTok creators write their Instagram handle in the bio, as "IG: name" or "IG: @name". TikTok can show a clickable bio link under the bio, and Virev's data does not hold that field, so this table counts only the bio text and undercounts TikTok the most.

Creators who picked "Reel creator" or "Digital creator" as their Instagram category link out the most, 27.2% and 21.1%. Digital creators link TikTok more than any other group, at 8.3%. Among the categories, entrepreneurs, photographers and health and beauty accounts link out the least. Most accounts, 446,195 of 611,122, show no category, and they link out less than any category, at 6.6%. "Beauty and care" is Instagram's "Beauty, cosmetic & personal care" category.
The same creator's followers on TikTok and Instagram
| Pair, by the first account's size | Pairs | Median ratio | Second app bigger |
|---|---|---|---|
| TikTok / Instagram, all | 104,120 | 1.11x | 52.8% |
| Instagram 1K-10K | 48,880 | 1.60x | 64.3% |

| Instagram 1M+ | 2,235 | 0.31x | 26.4% |
| YouTube / Instagram, all | 51,363 | 2.23x | 65.7% |
| YouTube / TikTok, all | 16,522 | 1.10x | 52.2% |
For a creator with 1,000 or more followers on both apps, TikTok and Instagram audiences are about the same size. The median creator has 1.11 TikTok followers for every Instagram follower, and TikTok is the bigger account for 52.8% of them. YouTube and TikTok come out even too, at 1.10x.
The split by size looks like a rule, and part of it is not. A creator with 1,000 to 10,000 Instagram followers usually has more on TikTok (1.60x), and a creator with 1 million+ usually has fewer (0.31x). Sorting pairs by the size of one account puts the accounts that happen to be big on that app at the top, so the other account looks small next to them. Read the tier rows as a description of these pairs, and the 1.11x as the main result.
The YouTube to Instagram ratio, 2.23x, leans toward YouTube. 98% of these pairs come from links on YouTube channels, and big channels link Instagram far more often, 62.5% of channels with 1 million+ subscribers against 14.5% under 10,000, so the YouTube side of a pair is usually a large channel.

Search creatorsHow much the links undercount
We checked both sides of the link rule by hand on Instagram creators from the sample.
- We drew 30 creators that link a TikTok or YouTube account and opened what each link points to. 28 of the 30 point at an account of the same person or business. 2 point at someone else, a relative's YouTube channel and a rap crew's channel.
- 5 of those 30 were businesses or media pages without an Instagram category, such as a pharmacy, a car magazine and a tech school. Our creator filter removes accounts in business categories, and an account with no category stays in.
- We drew 30 creators with no link and searched Google for their handle with "tiktok" and with "youtube". For 5 of them the search found their own TikTok or YouTube account, and a sixth links only a YouTube video. A search misses small accounts that Google has not indexed, so this check undercounts too.
Taken together, about 1 link in 15 points at someone else, and the 8.6% misses most creators who run a second account. If 5 in 30 of the creators with no link run a second account, about 24% of Instagram creators have a TikTok or YouTube account as well, because 8.6% plus 5/30 of the other 91.4% is 23.9%. With 30 accounts the 95% range is about 15% to 40%, and a search that misses small accounts means the true share may sit higher.
What to do with this
- If you are a creator, link your other accounts on every profile, because more than 9 in 10 Instagram creators with 1,000+ followers do not, and a brand that finds you on one app cannot see your reach on the other.
- If you are a brand, expect to find the TikTok or YouTube account of about 1 in 12 Instagram creators from the profile alone, and search by name for the rest.
- If you compare a creator's audiences, do not assume the TikTok account is bigger, because for creators with 1,000+ followers on both, each app is the bigger one about half the time.
- To find creators by platform, size and niche in one place, use Virev creator search, which covers 180M+ creators.

How we measured, and what can be wrong
- The Instagram figures come from a 2% page sample of Virev's Instagram account table, read with Postgres
TABLESAMPLE SYSTEM (2), which picks whole table pages at random. It holds 1,337,222 accounts with 1,000+ followers, 1,076,020 of them public. Follower counts and post dates come from Virev's ClickHouse census. - A creator has 1,000+ followers and at least one post dated July 30 to October 27, 2026 that Virev's crawler read, which leaves 650,845 public Instagram accounts. We removed 39,723 accounts whose Instagram category is mostly businesses in Virev's profiled accounts, the same rule as our count of influencers, which leaves 611,122.
- TikTok and YouTube cover every account in Virev's census with 1,000+ followers and a post in the same window, 5,656,803 TikTok accounts and 221,949 YouTube channels. TikTok bios count only when they name Instagram or YouTube.
- A link is any of these on the creator's own profile: a profile URL in the bio or bio links (tiktok.com/@name, youtube.com/@name or /channel/, instagram.com/name), a TikTok short link (vm.tiktok.com), an @handle written next to the app's name ("TikTok: @name"), or a handle after "TikTok:" with no @ when that handle is an account Virev holds. A video link and the app's name alone do not count.
- The hand checks are 30 linked and 30 unlinked Instagram creators from the sample, described above.
- The follower ratios use pairs linked from either profile where both accounts have a follower count in Virev's data and 1,000+ followers. Most pairs come from TikTok and YouTube profiles that name an Instagram account, because those sides are not sampled. The 2,464 pairs found from the Instagram sample alone give a higher TikTok to Instagram median, 2.31x.
- We could not measure creators who use the same handle on two apps without linking them. Virev's crawl holds a minority of all TikTok and YouTube accounts, so a handle match would miss most accounts and could join two strangers with one name.
- The sample is the set of accounts Virev crawls, which leans toward accounts brands search for, and is not a random draw from all of Instagram, TikTok or YouTube.

The tables are in one CSV, influencers-on-multiple-platforms-2026.csv. Each row is one group in one table: by_platform, by_tier, instagram_by_category and follower_ratio. A row has the number of creators, the share that link each other platform, either and both, the share whose link names an account Virev holds, and for the ratio table the median, quartiles and the share where the second app is bigger. The tables are free to reuse under CC BY 4.0.
