These are 36 Instagram creators who live and post in South Korea, from 2,700 followers to 2.1 million. Each one comes with numbers from posts we measured: followers, the engagement rate of a typical post, how often they post, and a recent post you can open. We picked them from 2,678 Korean creators that Virev's crawler tracks, then opened every profile in a browser on October 2, 2026.
Search for "Korean influencers" and the top lists are K-pop idols. Feedspot's list opens with Jennie (89.4M followers) and Rosé (83.1M), and Favikon's top 20 is all idols and groups. A brand cannot book BTS for a cushion compact. The lists also stop at follower counts: no engagement rate, no example post, and no word on how Korean creators label ads. This list covers creators a brand can work with, from nano to macro, and ends with the disclosure rules a foreign brand has to follow in Korea and Japan.

The engagement rate in this article is the typical-post rate: likes plus comments on the creator's median post out of the 12 most recent, divided by followers. One viral reel does not move it. Run any other account through the same math with our Instagram engagement rate calculator.
Macro creators in Korea (500K+ followers)
Macro creators in Korea are TV and stage names as often as they are full-time creators: a cheerleader, a dancer from a Mnet show, a couple channel. The median Korean macro creator's typical post reaches 1.06% of followers, almost twice the 0.56% we measured for macro creators in other markets.

2.1M followers, typical post 5.3%, 3.0 posts a week. A Korean cheerleader whose captions switch between Korean and traditional Chinese. Her reels are cheer dance clips; her carousels tie in Taiwanese brands such as the tea chain Chatime.
Example: A cup outing with a Chatime offer for fans, Aug 16, 119,040 likes and 294 comments. Fits: Brands that want reach in Taiwan and Korea from one creator. Captions for Taiwan posts are in Chinese, so plan the disclosure in both languages.

Example: Tefal mini rice cooker group buy, sold out, Aug 17, 4,866 likes and 319 comments. Fits: Kitchenware and food brands that sell through a time-limited creator sale. Gonggu is a common Korean format: the creator opens a short sale window for followers, usually at a set discount.
Mid-tier creators in Korea (100K to 500K followers)
Mid-tier creators run a clear format: a dog trio, a parenting comic, a restaurant map of the whole country. Korean mid-tier creators sit close to the rest of the world, 0.80% against 0.72%.

Korean creators against all creators
Korean creators get more response per follower than creators elsewhere, and the gap is widest in the middle of the market. We compared the 2,678 Korean creators in this study with 336,925 creator accounts from every other market in our Instagram engagement rate benchmarks, with brands, shops and media pages removed from both by the same rules.
| Followers | Korean creators | Typical post, Korea | Typical post, others | Average formula, Korea | Average formula, others |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1K to 10K | 693 | 2.34% | 2.07% | 3.49% | 3.22% |
| 10K to 100K | 1,339 | 1.44% | 0.99% | 2.43% | 1.81% |
| 100K to 500K | 484 | 0.80% | 0.72% | 1.06% | 1.34% |
| 500K+ | 162 | 1.06% | 0.56% | 1.62% | 0.93% |
A Korean micro creator's typical post reaches 45% more of their followers than a micro creator's elsewhere. The average-formula columns use mean likes and comments over the same 12 posts, the formula most tools use. They run higher because a few big posts pull the mean up. On that formula the mid tier flips and Korean mid-tier creators trail.
Beauty dominates the Korean creator pool and has the lowest response. By the words in their captions, 811 of the 2,678 creators post mostly about skincare and makeup, and their median typical post reaches 0.78% of followers. Food (230 creators, 1.00%), travel (147, 1.10%), fitness (139, 1.16%) and parenting (138, 1.67%) come next. Dance and K-pop accounts are few (88) but get 1.79%. A K-beauty brand has the longest list to pick from and the most ads competing in each feed.
Ads are common. In the 12 most recent posts of each creator, 15% of posts carried a disclosure, and 973 of the 2,678 creators had at least one. Only 2.3% of posts used Instagram's Paid partnership label. Korean creators disclose in the caption: 85% of disclosed posts had a caption word and no label.
Sponsored posts reach about half to two thirds
We found 423 posts with Instagram's Paid partnership label from 215 Korean creators. The median one got 56% of the likes and comments of the same creator's typical undisclosed post, and 76% fell below it. Counting every disclosed post (the label, or 광고, 유료광고, 협찬 or 제품 제공 in the caption), 1,853 posts from 699 creators kept 68% of normal response.
That is better than New York, where the same comparison gave 48% in our NYC creator list. The drop is real in both markets. Price a Korean sponsored post on roughly half to two thirds of the creator's normal response, not on follower count.
Dior Beauty's 22 Korean creator posts
Dior Beauty is the brand tagged by the most creators in disclosed posts in this study. Between April 19 and September 17, 2026, 19 Korean creators posted 22 disclosed posts tagging @diorbeauty: cushions, Rouge Dior lipsticks, the Forever base line and Miss Dior perfume. 14 of the 19 were micro creators.
The disclosure was the same almost every time. 17 of the 22 captions carry #유료광고 (paid ad), 3 carry 제품 제공 or 협찬 (product provided, sponsored), and 2 carry #광고. All 22 put the word in the first 100 characters, usually as the first word. None used Instagram's Paid partnership label.
The median Dior post got 46% of the creator's typical post. Four did better than normal. The best, by @1993kg (497K followers) on June 25, opened with a line of her own ("Forever my blue") before the #유료광고 tag and got twice her typical response. Serena (@r3na_serena), in the micro list above, ran two Dior posts: a cushion post that matched her normal response (98%) and a lipstick post that got half (49%).
These posts show the trade a foreign brand makes in Korea. Many micro creators, each labeled in Korean in the first line, give steady reach at about half each creator's normal level, with a few posts that break out.
How Korean and Japanese creators disclose ads
A foreign brand that pays or gifts creators in Korea or Japan has to follow local disclosure rules, and the brand carries the risk. In its first Instagram case, the Korea Fair Trade Commission fined seven companies a total of KRW 269 million over 4,177 Instagram posts that hid payments to influencers. Japan made stealth marketing a violation of its labeling law on October 1, 2023.
Korea. The KFTC's endorsement guidelines, revised for social media on September 1, 2020, ask for the disclosure where people see it first:
- On Instagram: the first line of the caption, inside the photo, or the first hashtag. Text hidden behind "more", in the middle of the caption, in a comment or in a later hashtag does not count.
- In Korean, when the post is in Korean: 광고 (ad), 유료광고 (paid ad), 협찬 (sponsored) or 제품 제공 (product provided). The KFTC's guide lists "sponsored", "AD", "partnership with" and "thanks to" as not acceptable in a Korean post. A post written in English for English-speaking readers may use English.
- On YouTube, the platform's 유료광고 포함 (includes paid promotion) banner is accepted, but it shows only at the start, so the video also needs a label in the middle and at the end.
- Since June 1, 2026, an AI-generated virtual person in an ad must be labeled 가상인물 (virtual person).
Korean creators follow the first-line rule closely. In 18,725 caption-only disclosures from 1,190 Korean creators (March to September 2026), 95% put 광고 or 협찬 in the first 100 characters.
Japan. Since the 2023 rule, a paid or gifted post needs a clear marker such as 広告, PR or プロモーション. Japanese creators place it differently: in 10,960 caption-only disclosures, 69% of the markers sat in the last fifth of the caption and 19% in the first 100 characters. Our Japanese article on the stealth marketing rule and PR labels has the full count, the six enforcement orders so far and a checklist.
For a brief to Korean creators, write the label into the contract: the word (#유료광고 for a paid post, #협찬 or 제품 제공 for a gift), the place (the first line), and the language of the post. For Japan, ask for 【PR】 or #PR at the start of the caption, not after the hashtags. Our guide to Japanese gifting covers seeding programs there.
How to use this list for brand work
- Compare a creator with their own tier. A 2% typical post is weak for a nano creator and strong for a macro one, and Korean micro creators set a higher bar than the global median.
- Check how many of the last 12 posts were ads. Aggieku had 10, Hamong had 12. Your post will sit in a feed of other ads.
- Watch for comment prompts. Captions that say "comment anything" or "write 코디" send DMs and lift comment counts, as on Ggomsu Salim's, Pi Hana's and Wonderful Day's posts. Judge those accounts on clicks you can track.
- Ask about group buys. A gonggu creator such as Mama Hyejung sells, so judge her on orders, not likes.
- Ignore the one viral post. Cap-Spa has a 153,987-like reel and a typical post of about 1,900 likes and comments. Our guide to checking a creator's sponsorship history shows how to read past ads before you book.
How we made this list and when we read the data
- Accounts: public Instagram accounts with 1,000 or more followers and a Korean signal: Hangul in the bio or name, South Korea as country or Korean as language in Virev's creator profile, or Seoul, Korea, Busan or 🇰🇷 in the bio. 5,832 accounts matched with at least 6 measurable posts.
- Korean creators: we kept accounts where at least half of the recent captions are in Korean (4,373), then removed brands, shops, clinics, media pages, fan pages and official accounts by Virev's profile label, Instagram category and name: 2,678 creators. A few Korean creators who live abroad stay in this pool; the 36 picks all post from Korea.
- Reads: Virev's crawler read the accounts between August 18 and September 30, 2026.
- Posts: the 12 most recent feed posts at least 3 days old, not pinned, with likes visible, posted from February 21 to September 26, 2026. 29,278 posts in all.
- Engagement rate: likes plus comments on the median post, divided by followers at the read. Posts a week: the 12 posts divided by the days between the first and last.
- Comparison group: 336,925 accounts from the Instagram benchmark crawl outside this Korean set, with the same brand and media filters, read July 1 to October 1, 2026.
- Sponsored posts: a post counts as disclosed if it has Instagram's Paid partnership label or one of 광고, 유료광고, 협찬, 제품 제공, 체험단, 원고료, #ad or #sponsored in the caption. Each is compared with the median of the same creator's undisclosed posts, for creators with at least 4 undisclosed posts. Ads with no disclosure cannot be counted.
- Disclosure position: 134,965 posts from the same creators, March 1 to September 30, 2026, with the first 1,000 characters of each caption. Japan figures come from Virev's stealth marketing study on Japanese creators.
- Niches: by keywords in each creator's captions and bio, so mixed lifestyle accounts land in no niche.
- Picks: we sorted creators by niche and tier, dropped businesses, media pages, idols and fan pages, and read the recent posts of each candidate. We kept creators who post from Korea, posted in August or September 2026, and suit at least one kind of brand. On October 2 we opened all 36 profiles in a browser to check the bio and follower count.
- Contact details: this article shows public profile information only. It lists no emails or phone numbers.
Follower counts move. Kang So Yeon went from 1.5M at our read to 2M on October 2, and Wonderful Day from 28.6K to 36K. Check the live count before you send an offer.
